Navy Seal attempts to break world pull up record in Brentwood.
David Goggins attempts to break the world record for the most pull ups in 24 hours at CrossFit Brentwood Hills on Sunday, November 25.
Brentwood, TN – November, 17, 2012 – David Goggins, Navy Seal and ultra runner will attempt to break the current Guinness world record of 4,020 pull ups in 24 hours. He will begin at CrossFit Brentwood Hills on Sunday, November 25 at 8am and continue until Monday, November 26 at 8am. This is Goggins’ second attempt at breaking the world record. His first attempt was televised on the Today Show where he fell short due to a forearm injury.
Goggins’ has been referred to as “the toughest athlete on the planet,” having served in Afghanistan and completing ultra runs such as Bad Water and Ultra Man, that are designed to test the human limits. In his first attempt to break the world record for the most pull ups in 24 hours. Goggins’ completed 2,011 pull ups in only 6 hours. Due to an unstable pull up system, he tore a muscle in his forearm and was only able to complete 2588 pull ups after 13.5 hours. “This is about redemption for me,” states Goggins. “You can fail, as long as you get back up again.” Alongside Goggins’ will be his girlfriend Dawn Griner who will be attempting to break the female record for the most pull ups in 24 hours.
This time around, Goggins will be using the all steel pull up rig at CrossFit Brentwood Hills made by Rogue Fitness. CrossFit Brentwood Hills is located on Old Hickory Blvd next to Target. Owner, Nandor Tamaska is a United States Marine from Atlanta, Ga and has been in the fitness industry for over 11 years. “It is an honor to have David and Dawn use our box,” says Nandor. “I have no doubt we will be watching world breaking history.”
